Mixed in Key 10 is designed for DJs to find the key, scale, BPM and energy level of full songs. Mixed In Key Studio Edition is designed for producers to find the key and scale or notes of samples, loops, drums, vocals and any other audio to help make their productions sound better and harmonically correct.

This depends on the audio being analyzed in Studio Edition. Some audio, such as a C Minor chord on a piano, we could assume is in the key of C Minor. However, a C minor chord also is available in the key of G minor or F Minor. So given more information that key can change between all three depending on what is played afterwards. Sometimes music has a vagueness as to which exact key it is in or it constantly plays between the lines and changes keys, so Mixed In Key SE shows you which ones are most likely being detected.

Yes. However you will need to play the MIDI clip back through an instrument first, such as a soft synth.

Yes. But, there are some things to consider:

• You will need to isolate individual drum sounds.
• Some drum sounds do not have tonal information, such as hi-hats, and cymbals.
• Drum sounds with tonal information, such as snares and bass drums, may have a large proportion of harmonics. These harmonics spread the tonal register of the sound, meaning mre than one note may be detected. Use the most present note as it probaby reflects the fundamental tone.
• For one shots, trigger the sound and stop analysis in Studio Edition after one shot. This avoids a build-up of harmonic tails entering the algorithm.
